Diablo Swimming - CIF Results

May 17, 2010 - The Mission Viejo girls and boys swimmers competed in the CIF-SS Division I Championships on Friday night at the Belmont Plaza Olympic Pool in Long Beach with excellent results.

The girls made a very good showing placing 9th overall.  Several individual swimmers and all 3 relays scored points for the Diablos.  Seniors Chelsea Morris (UNLV), Carly Colin (Nevada-Reno) and Ashlyn Acosta (San Jose State) all contributed points and were joined by sophomores Taylor Guy, Olivia Hughes, Marina Spadoni and Kelsey Warkentin.

The boys placed a respectable ...and surprising... 5th place!  Senior Tyler Weissman (Cal Poly-SLO) had personal best times and earned All-American honors.  Juniors Steven Ewoldt, Brian Kespradit and Scott Walker also scored points.

The highlight swims of the night for MVHS were turned in by Senior Jon Daniec (Univ. of Virginia) as he was the CIF CHAMPION in the 200 & 500 Yard Freestyle events for the 2nd year in a row; the only male swimmer to win two events. Jon's times were also All-American times and the 500 is the 2nd fasted time in the nation this year.

Congratulations to all the Mission swimmers and divers for a great championship season!

Thank you for supporting our teams this year.

Sincerely,

Jeff Boss

Swimming & Diving Coach
